What the money actually buys

Almost the whole demand — ₹1,99,500 crore of ₹2,07,706 crore — is PMGKAY, the free foodgrain scheme. The money is the gap between what the Food Corporation of India pays to buy and store grain and what it is then handed out for; ₹75,495 crore of it goes to the Corporation itself.
